This guy was Italian from Catania (Sicily) 1965/66, very strange I see his picture, because recently he came in my mind, and I was wondering if his name was Vittorio,
don't think so, may be Carmelo. (cannot help the lady looking for Vittorio, Sorry)
He was about 5/7 tall, spoke broken English, but good italian with no much Sicilian accent and he was not dressed a la Carnaby st. but rather conservative. I rembered he always want to do arm-wrestling with me, and he lost all the time (it was not easy tough.)
Adrian you always amazing me.

I remember him really well - but not his name. He was always at LET and a nice guy I think.

Jon and I met up for lunch yesterday and a stroll around Soho. This is the entrance to Walker's Court at the end of Berwick Street. We hadn't seen each other for over 45 years. A bit of catching up was required.
Adrian
Not much of a memory in itself but a reunion was mooted and it would be interesting to hear what kind of interest there might be.

Adrian and I spent a great day together, starting with a coffee at Cafe Boheme, a gentle walk around Soho seeing what we could remember. Then a stop for lunch, another stroll down memory lane and a final afternoon tea.
There wasn't a split second of silence, just wall to wall chatting.
There is nothing quite like caching up with old friends, even after all these years.
We plan to do another get together soon; perhaps we can get to see Phillip.

I knew her quite well but I'm struggling to remember her name. I'll post it when I get it. The blue handkerchief in my jacket pocket were actually her panties.

1 had the exact same blue velvet suit that I bought at "Take 6" in Gt Marlborough St./Carnaby St. in 1970. Yes and a blue velvet bow tie to match. Sold the ensemble to Gerrard at "Charles Peguy" in 1972. Never could find a blue one again.

That's the jacket to a beautiful three-piece blue Donegal tweed suit I really loved! And the glasses were my own design - an optician on Oxford St made them for me at cost because he thought it such fun!

Now you mention it , Donegal was very "minet" at the time. In fact my next foray, post velvet, was lovat green donegal. I wore it until the thighs wore thin! Bought a complementing oatmeal donegal single breasted overcoat . Looked good dancing in it at The Countdown with my famous signature red scarf like the Lautrec Aristide Bruant poster. Oh boy did I have style or what?

The Lord Byron was a short-lived club on Beak St in 1969. The owner who I don't remember was a Greek-Cypriot and Jean-Michel, Josiane, Alfredo and I were the staff. The picture is by Michaele who I'd love to find as his photo archive must be a gold-mine of memories.

Si Adrian , ma chi convinse il greco ad aprire la cantina del ristorante era un italiano, non mi ricordo il nome, che dopo circa tre mesi rubò, impianto hi fi, dischi ed altre cose e scappò in spagna. Bei tempi, i was always in love.

Sydney Mann
Jean Doré
I believe this is not Sydney Mann but it looks 100% like me! Jean Doré?
There is no way that there is anyone else with a likeness so like myself that I could not ID my own looks. My nose is classic as well as my eyes and the mousey hair that had a life of its own. I had that look of innocence; no doubt when I was it was true but Soho corrupted me as does life in general. Please correct this Adrian. If this is not me then I have a mysterious double. Even my own first cousin
2016-03-08-00:33:04
Adrian
Not only will I correct you but must tell you that the photo came from Sydney himself. I would assume therefore that it's a fair likeness. And yes there is something of a likeness to you too. But I think you had a thinner face?

Jean Dore
Well then I must beg you for a favor do you have any photos of myself, Tony Smith who worked with me at La Poubelle and the late Paul Creeze. It would help me a lot as I have almost finished my book and I only have on photo of me in Angola when I was an operative in Cabinda. If you could help Adrian I would be most appreciative because a picture tell a thousand words. Also there was Mario the new owner of SPQR who I befriended. There were also two Italian mercenaries and one I think was Corsican that hung out and were friends of Pino? Do you know there names or have a photo, actually do you have any photos of Lucio and Pino? I also had two Italian friends one from Florence and his room mate worked at the Whisky do you remember their names; was it Francino. That photo is unbelievably like me, whether Mann sent it to you or not.....It looks like when I first found LET before I got geared up in Blazers and Ravel pumps. If you saw my college photo then Mann is my Doppelganger? I appreciate you answering so quickly. I would like to send you an eBook when it comes out. I have filled in a lot of gaps in the background stories behind the scenes. Thanks again Adrian....This site is still painful to look at for me, I was very sad about Paul and Michel passing. I wonder about Martin. Louie Brown also had a massive heart attack, he was my cousin removed. The Browns (Jewish) are my relative on my Mum's side. Mum was head of Rank Org back in the day......If you like you can email me directly or post them if you find anything?

I just found a photo of Paul, Costas, & John Zographos my good Greek friend that introduced to Aphrodite's Child (is he still with us?) in your Le Kilt people, my God what a lot of memories, I feel this yearning to come back to London but all of this has gone. The pictures brought more back than ever more. Yes the women were stunning and sexy....my oats were left in London (TMI).....These were the greatest years of my life for sure....thanks again..mon cher

Alex with his band Nirvana.
Adrian
Many thanks to Vibeke for the photo!
The following is from the entry in Wikipedia.
Nirvana were a United Kingdom-based progressive rock band active in the late 1960s and early 1970s. Though the band only achieved limited commercial success, they were acclaimed both by music industry professionals and critics.
In 1985, the band reformed.
Nirvana was created as the performing arm of the London-based songwriting partnership of Irish musician Patrick Campbell-Lyons and Greek composer Alex Spyropoulos. On their recordings Campbell-Lyons and Spyropoulos supplied all the vocals. The instrumental work was primarily undertaken by top session musicians and orchestral musicians - with Campbell-Lyons providing a little guitar and Spyropoulos contributing some keyboards.
Musically, Campbell-Lyons and Spyropoulos blended myriad musical styles including rock, pop, folk, jazz, Latin rhythms and classical music, primarily augmented by baroque chamber-style arrangements to create a unique entity. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nirvana_(British_band)

Christian avec Raymond & Marc (Opening of La Poubelle)
Adrian
Christian says this was the opening of La Poubelle (Mark III) but as no-one had even heard of the two brothers from Finchley Road at the time and it would really have surprised Jean-Pierre - as well as me, Nino, Serge, Albert, Claude et al it wasn't then. It may well have been when they took over the club some years later, or even when they changed the name - wasn't it the Experience? Help any one!
2013-04-04-15:39:28
charles
well adrian, if you dont remember the 2 brothers marc and raymond at la poubelle, you were not in london between 1971 until at least 1973/4 because they were at the reception of la poubelle every night with a guy who looked like mercury... i should know because they did never let me in without paying.. the short one allways told me only the girls dont pay.. you are not a girl ... ah. ah.
2013-04-08-12:45:17
Adrian
